Trust
Where do you place your trust?
In your abilities? In other
people? In money?
We all place our trust somewhere.
When we place our trust, we do it
because we believe we know what the outcome will be.
If I do this, then this will
happen. But will it?
Do we really know what the future
holds? We like to think we do.
The ultimate example of trust is
Jesus, of course, but I think David gives us a wonderful example of where to
place our trust.
Psalm 27:13-14
I would have despaired unless I had
believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the
Lord.
David is telling us that believing
that the Lord is good, and He will take care of us will give us hope.
David believed that He would see
God’s goodness in all his circumstances.
Now you may be thinking, easier
said than done and I would agree with you.
David gives us the key when he says,
“wait on the Lord”. This does not mean sit around do nothing.
The word for wait in Hebrew is qavah,
which means, “to bind together”.
David is telling us to bind
ourselves together with God. What does that mean?
Binding together with someone is
to become so intimately acquainted with them that you know how they think, and
you know how they will react.
We can have that type of
relationship with God, but it takes time. The more time you spend with God the
more you will begin to trust Him with your life.
It may not be easy at first, in
fact, it will probably be a little scary.
Given time, your trust will grow,
and you know that you are trusting God when the first thing that comes up in
you is that God is good, and He will take care of me in this.
That is what I am striving for in
every area of life. Do you want to join me?
